Three Years Since Ayotzinapa

Social outrage over state violence in Mexico peaked exactly three years ago when municipal police in Iguala in the state of Guerrero opened fire on a group of students heading to Mexico City for a peaceful commemoration of a student massacre that took place in 1968. Although there are various hypotheses about what happened that night they all point to police connections with local drug trafficking networks. Most importantly, the whereabouts of the 43 disappeared students from Ayotzinapa are still unknown.
